Banaspati itself is a name for vicious jinn or evil spirits. There are many stories about the origins of Banaspati, one of the famous ones is the story of a young man from Java who wanted to raise the status of his family by going to the city. Long story short, he slowly managed to save, and little by little he recovered the economy of his family in the village. But there are people who are jealous of the economic development of their family. They did evil ways to bring down the family until his mother and sister died because of them. Hearing the news that his mother and younger brother died, the young man rushed home and found his father also died due to witchcraft from these people. With a burning hatred and full of emotion, the young man went to several shamans to avenge him. Until there is a shaman who is willing to help him but on the condition that he must have sex with 7 virgins, kill the 7th virgin, and drink her blood. Due to unbearable revenge, he carried out these conditions. While having sex with the 7th woman, the parents of the virgin caught them having sex. Without thinking the young man killed the parents and the virgin child, then drank the blood according to the conditions put forward by the shaman earlier. But his actions were caught by residents, he then ran into the forest. In the forest, the young man cried about what he had done, all this time he just wanted his family to live a better life. Soon the young man was approached by an old figure who knew what is inside the heart of the young man and wanted to help him. He closed his eyes and opened them according to the instructions from Genderuwo. When he opened his eyes, the young man felt immense anger when he saw the vision of his family being killed. The anger and resentment had peaked until the body of the young man was enveloped in fire. Not long after, the figure of Genderuwo possessed the young man and became one with him and then both of them disappeared. Then after that, a fireball appeared in the air flying, this is how the figure of Banaspati became known.
